Kaley King
Hi everyone! My name is Kaley King, and I have a lifelong obsession with writing as well as a passion for supporting my fellow writers!
I have been working as an educator, tutor, and writing consultant for many years now. I have Masters in Creative Writing and Poetics from Naropa University in Boulder, CO, where I worked as a Writing Center consultant.
Currently, I teaching writing classes at Naropa while also serving students at the Writing Center at the Colorado University of Boulder. My specializations include fiction, creative nonfiction, and academic writing, especially related to liberal arts studies.
When I am not writing, I love to paint, craft, game, play with my dogs, and feed my obsession with good stories, like Lord of the Rings and Shakespearean plays.

Tutoring or Consulting Sessions

An individual tutoring session consists of one roughly 50 minute session in which you receive one-on-one support from me on whatever academic or creative projects you might be working on.
During a 50 minute session, we can read and discuss roughly 5-6 pages.

Asynchronous Feedback Session
$100
An asynchronous feedback session consists of you sending me a piece of writing that you would like feedback on. For this session, I would not meet with you in real time. Instead, having received your writing, I spend the hour session reading, annotating, and providing you with written feedback on the project you submitted.
For each asynchronous feedback session you book, with the allotted 50 minutes, I can read and provide feedback for roughly 3-5 pages.

What happens during a session with Kaley?
A writing session with me always begins with a conversation. My priority as your writing coach is to know you, your current writing project, and where you are in the writing process. To do this, I will ask you questions about all three and take notes while I listen to your reflections. This will allow us to collaborate as we set goals for the current session, your next steps for the project, and even future sessions. From there, we discuss various activities or steps we could take together during our time.
These sessions are all about you, as the writer. Therefore, you and I will co-create our session, collaborating to determine which concerns would be more important for us to address in our time together. During a session, we might brainstorm, verbally processing what a project could look like. We may read through a rough draft of a project and revise sections together. Or, we set aside the project for a moment to write into a new idea in a fresh document.

I have extensive experience supporting individual writers’ evolution through any stage of the writing process, from brainstorming to formatting and citations.
I have helped writers develop a wide range of projects, from creative nonfiction manuscripts and novels to TedTalk presentations and scientific journals. I have also support the evolution of project, like: essays, thesis papers, personal narratives, resumes, cover letters, poems, scholarship essays, and more!
